I have finished editing the image I want to use on my double page spread. I wanted it to look like it is a mirror with a different reflection than the actual image. I darkened his hair to get rid of the light on it and also darkened the jumper in the reflection to remove all of the lightened parts. (The lighting was bright in the location i decided to shoot in). Behind the reflection is a gradient to look like a shimmer in the top right corner like a mirror would have. I will use this to fill a lot of the double page spread and have the text to the right of it, above and below the guitar neck.
I want to make my double page spread like this. I will only be writing about one person compared to the two in this article. I will have an image of my person facing forward taking up quite a lot of the room on the page. The writing will fit around the image with the title of the article in the top left corner. I want a bubble of speech from my person on him also like in this article but i will have my page numbers in the bottom corners of the page rather than the middle.
I changed one of the names in the banner to make it a real band name rather than my made up band name (which was based on them). Now That G.R.L and Trxye are on my cover, it shows that it is a pop magazine by having real pop musicians on it rather than them all being made up and unknown.
Once again like the top of the pops magazine, I copied how one of the coverline layouts. I put the important words on the top and inverted the colours used to make them stand out and gave a little more detail than just naming what the title of the article is.
The banner on my front cover is also a reference to the top of the pops magazine. I added banner to fill the front cover a little more with stories that are in the inside without covering the main image too much. Having these names in the banner shows that they are less significant than the other stories on the front but still selling points of the magazines as, after all, they did make the front cover.
I had a second thought and decided to add a second image to the front cover. This helps the audience easily develop an understanding of what is inside without even needing to read the front cover. I used the same style as a Top Of The Pops magazine that I had found by making the image stick out of the bordered box that is associated with.
My contents page is nearly finished at the moment. All i have to do next is retake the photo of Leon in more colourful clothes to represent the fun of the pop music and also pose holding a guitar to identify clearly that it is a music magazine. I am happy with the other features with my magazine. The layout is based on a Q magazine however the colours I have used are a lot more bolder and brighter to emphasise the fun of pop music like a Top Of The Pops magazine. (Although my main colours are blue and red not pink and purple).
This is one of the magazine front covers I have found that I want to reference. This not only has the same genre as mine but i have based a lot of my front cover on it. The main image is at the centre at the back and takes up the whole background. It also has the person posing for the picture to make it less casual which is what I have done. I have used bold colours like this magazine has but my colours are a lot more gender neutral than just for girls.(Although by using purple it may be considered for girls more than boys. Also using a teenage heartthrob as the main image makes it appeal more to girls as well). There is a banner across the top and the other stories clutter on the front cover only showing the face of the person in the main image. One thing that I want to change about my front cover is putting the text in bubbles. I will add bubbles of the bold colours that I have used to keep with the colour theme but also make some of the stories stand out. I may also add a second image related to one of my stories.
