The banner on my front cover is also a reference to the top of the pops magazine. I added banner to fill the front cover a little more with stories that are in the inside without covering the main image too much. Having these names in the banner shows that they are less significant than the other stories on the front but still selling points of the magazines as, after all, they did make the front cover.
I had a second thought and decided to add a second image to the front cover. This helps the audience easily develop an understanding of what is inside without even needing to read the front cover. I used the same style as a Top Of The Pops magazine that I had found by making the image stick out of the bordered box that is associated with.
My contents page is nearly finished at the moment. All i have to do next is retake the photo of Leon in more colourful clothes to represent the fun of the pop music and also pose holding a guitar to identify clearly that it is a music magazine. I am happy with the other features with my magazine. The layout is based on a Q magazine however the colours I have used are a lot more bolder and brighter to emphasise the fun of pop music like a Top Of The Pops magazine. (Although my main colours are blue and red not pink and purple).
This is one of the magazine front covers I have found that I want to reference. This not only has the same genre as mine but i have based a lot of my front cover on it. The main image is at the centre at the back and takes up the whole background. It also has the person posing for the picture to make it less casual which is what I have done. I have used bold colours like this magazine has but my colours are a lot more gender neutral than just for girls.(Although by using purple it may be considered for girls more than boys. Also using a teenage heartthrob as the main image makes it appeal more to girls as well). There is a banner across the top and the other stories clutter on the front cover only showing the face of the person in the main image. One thing that I want to change about my front cover is putting the text in bubbles. I will add bubbles of the bold colours that I have used to keep with the colour theme but also make some of the stories stand out. I may also add a second image related to one of my stories.
All's I have left to do now is to add the website in the bottom right and add details in small text next to each story. I decided to remove the word contents from the top because it didn't look professional.
This is the best I could do to replicate the album cover that I chose. This will on the contents page above the other stories inside. I used the blue over it with a red smudge to be the paint. I couldn't use the same font due to the computer not having it but I used the most similar font I could find. I made the hair darker like the album has it too.
I had a change of plan due to the people I wanted to use not be available so I decided to highlight TRXYE on my magazine contents instead of the TOP 10 story. For this, I want to base my image on a real album but change the image used. I will tint the image and add the brush streak over the eyes and add the box with TRXYRE over it.
